UNIZIK VC tasks alumni on developmental projects | The Guardian Nigeria News

Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka, Prof Charles Esimone, has urged the university’s alumni to increase their contribution to the development of the institution.
Esimone, who gave the advice at the inauguration of five new offices for the Department of Estate Management in the school, commended the sponsors for their magnanimity, assuring that the institution will put the facilities into good use.
He said the renovated offices, attracted by Dr. Joseph Onyejiaka of the Department of Estate Management through the CEOs of Arnold and Associates, Mr Arnold Ekweoba and Osorachukwu Ani, was aimed at solving office space challenge in the department.
He also commended Onyejiaka for attracting the project, even as he solicited more developmental projects from friends and associates of the institution.
The VC also announced plans for the take-off of three new programmes, namely Water Resources, Urban and Rural Planning and Maritime Institute.
“The time has come for alumni members to increase their contribution to the development of the university,” he said. In his response, the Faculty Dean, Prof. Ifeanyi Enete, commended the vice chancellor for approving the new programmes, while awaiting their accreditation, as he lauded the sponsors, enjoining them to sustain their assistance to the school.
Head of Department, Estate Management, Dr. Celestine Ugonabo, expressed gratitude to the VC for approving their request to remodel the hitherto classroom into offices to accommodate members of staff.
In their separate comments, the benefactors, Ekweoba said over 20 students had benefitted from his periodic scholarship scheme, while Ani pledged to assist in furnishing the offices.
