Ganduje pardons 12 inmates on death row

The Kano state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has released and pardoned 12 inmates on death row, as some of pardoned inmates have spent 25 years awaiting execution
This was just as governor Ganduje also commuted death sentences of six inmates to life imprisonment.
This was contained in a statement signed by SC Musbahu Lawan K/ Nassarawa Kano Command Public Relations Officer a copy made available to pressmen on Tuesday in Kano
According to him, the Governor equally pardoned Four female inmates with long term sentences, base on their good behavior and industrious as recommended by the Correctional Authority.
The Governor also gave N5000 Transport fare to each of the released inmates to enable them reunite with their families.
He disclosed that some of the pardoned inmates have spent 25 years awaiting execution.
Earlier, the Chairman of the prerogative of Mercy, Abdullahi Garba Rano thanked Ganduje for using the power conferred on him by the Constitution to released the inmates with good behavior at the recommendation of the Advisory council of prerogative of Mercy.
The Controller of Corrections, Kano State Command, Sulaiman Mohd Inuwa commended the Governor for decongesting the custodial Center.
He then called on the released inmates to be good ambassador of the Nigerian Correctional Service to the society and to stay away from any act that can lead them back to the crime.
