Frankie’s Pizza closing on December 11 before demolition for metro line station

Frankie’s Pizza is set to close its doors just before Christmas ahead of a demolition in early 2023 to make way for a new metro station.

The iconic Sydney venue is set to stage a “final campaign” of events to see out its final days.

The last day fans can order a drink or a slice of pizza will be December 11, the venue’s tenth birthday.

“It‘s time to leave our legions, farewell our four walls, and finish at our most f***ing fearsome,” the owners said in a statement announcing the final set of events for the bar.

Frankie’s has been set to close for more than a year and a half, after it was announced in May of last year that it would be demolished to make way for a new metro station.

“We thought this venue would outlive us. We‘ve seen trends come and go and steadfastly stood for RocknRoll through it all,” owners said.

“With the unstoppable momentum of Sydney City‘s ’infrastructure evolution’ set to demolish Hunter Street in early 2023, we have decided on a date to depart.”

The crew expects its final day will attract large crowds, with warnings those wanting to get in on the action should line up “early”.
